I've since concluded it was because I didn't love or maybe even like what I was doing (although I convinced myself I had great passion for it at the time). Plus I do think part of the "I don't really belong here" is because as the system is currently set up, belonging for women is not a given. I mentor through MentorNet and love it. I too wish I'd had mentoring as I went through the system. Although if I'm honest with myself, I think I would have declined it if someone had offered it back then because I didn't want to be singled out for extra help (suggesting I was deficient in some way).
