Girls who expect their boyfriends to chat with them the way their girlfriends do are in for a big surprise.

...and guys who expect their girlfriends to enjoy football games with them the way their buddies do are in for a big surprise....

Stereotypes all. There may be some statistical truth to it, but even if so, it doesn't make for a universial predictor of individual behavior.

The best part of her pseudo-research is when she begins the book by saying it doesn't matter that women's brains are smaller than men's -- obviously, she asserts, women are just as smart and capable as men so size doesn't matter. Then, within sentences, she bases all her claims in the book on the fact that women have a larger hippocampus than men! So I guess size does matter after all.

The author(s) Language Log has been busily debunking evidence cited as supporting pat assumptions about gender that are supposedly supported by neurological data put forth in Brizendine's book.

Also, they talk about how throwing in a brain scan or two along with dubious assertions will apparently cause people to buy even the flimsiest neurological just-so story.
